Job Summary
This is a varied, hands-on warehouse position. You will help with the day-to-day running of the warehouse, preparing customer orders and handling bamboo products, including large sheet materials and other bulky items.The role involves physical work, so you will need to be fit and comfortable with lifting, carrying and being on your feet throughout the working day.
Duties
- Picking, packing and preparing customer orders for dispatch
- Loading and unloading deliveries
- Helping to unload shipping containers when stock arrives
- Moving, stacking and organising stock within the warehouse
- Carrying out stock checks and assisting with stock control
- Measuring and cutting products to customer requirements
- Using electric saws and other workshop/warehouse equipment
- Keeping the warehouse clean, organised and safe
- General warehouse and labouring duties as required
Requirements
- Be reliable and punctual with a good work ethic
- Have good practical common sense and be able to use your own initiative
- Be physically fit and comfortable with manual work
- Have a good understanding of measurements, dimensions and sizing
- Be able to measure materials accurately
- Be comfortable using hand tools and machinery
- Ideally have experience using electric saws or similar workshop equipment
- Be able to follow instructions accurately
- Take care when handling stock and preparing customer orders
- Be comfortable working independently as well as part of a small team
- Have your own reliable transport to and from work
You don't necessarily need previous warehouse experience. We are more interested in finding someone who is reliable, practical, careful and willing to learn. Full training will be provided where required.
Pay & Probation The position will initially have a 3-month probationary period, paid at the applicable National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage. At the end of the three months, the position and performance will be reviewed, with the intention of offering ongoing employment to the right person.
Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
