About the role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Skilled Piling Operative to join our Ground Engineering team.
What you'll be doing
The main accountabilities of this role are to:
- Set up barriers for rig exclusion zone (double lock), making sure free of other plant equipment and ensuring access/egress gate is in the optimum location and including relevant signage;
- Use and maintain adequate radio contact with Rig Operator;
- Ensure Supervisors details are in view on barriers/access gate and updated at all times (weekly);
- Set up pig pen and ensure locked together around pile position within exclusion zone prior to starting pre bore/anchor/mini pile. Test safety gates to ensure safe mode is working if required;
- Ensure correct equipment/tools are selected for job e.g. use cleaning bucket to complete an LDP pile;
- Ensure spoil is taken away in a timely manner and be fully aware of the muck away operation and alert to the movements of the machines, liaising with 360 operator and managing 360 exclusion zone;
- Check tools continually and send for repairs in a timely manner;
- Follow company/manufacturers procedures to ensure standards are met;
- Notify the Site Supervisor of any matters that affect the progress of works (including breakdowns & damages, etc.);
- Assist the operators and fitters with on-site maintenance as required and instructed.
Who we're looking for
The following qualities/experience are essential:
- Knowledge of site method statements, procedures, risk assessments and site specific rules;
- Knowledge of piling techniques in rotary discipline;
- Site experience in appropriate discipline;
- Good communication skills (to all levels including Supervisors) and ability to work as part of a team;
- Proactively challenge and be challenged where appropriate;
- Slinger/Signaller - CPCS Competent Operator Card (Blue);
- Piling Rig Attendant - CPCS Competent Operator Card (Blue);
- Relevant manufacture/supplier training where required;
- Maintenance training.
The following qualities/experience are desirable:
- Working towards NVQ Level 2;
- Experience in other piling techniques.
