GSS is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of utility and infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused QS who understands NEC4 contracts and wants to work in a growing power and utilities environment.
Experience with National Grid, SPEN, DNOs or wider utility frameworks would be highly desirable. Candidates from gas, water or other infrastructure sectors will also be considered where NEC contract experience is relevant.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial and contractual matters across live projects.
- Prepare and review payment submissions, valuations, cost reports and forecasts.
- Support NEC4 contract administration, including compensation events, early warnings, quotations and change control.
- Manage subcontractor accounts, procurement support, assessments and final account close-out.
- Track project costs, committed spend, variations, risk and opportunity.
- Work closely with project managers, planners, engineers and finance teams to maintain accurate commercial reporting.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
Experience & Skills
Quantity surveying experience within utilities, power, transmission and distribution, infrastructure, gas or water projects.
- Practical knowledge of NEC4 contracts and change control processes.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage cost, value and risk.
- Confident with Excel, cost reporting and commercial documentation.
- Able to communicate clearly with technical, operational and client teams.
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent commercial experience would be beneficial.
