Bookshop / Bar Assistant (Barista/Bar Experience Preferred)

The Spicy Librarian is looking for a passionate Bookshop & Bar Assistant to help create unforgettable experiences for our incredible community.
This isn't just a retail role. One minute you'll be recommending the perfect romantasy read, the next you'll be making incredibly delicious coffees, pouring wine, mixing cocktails, supporting author events and helping bring our bookish community to life.
What you'll be doing:
- Welcoming every customer and delivering exceptional service.
- Recommending books and creating a memorable experience.
- Preparing coffees and serving drinks from our bar.
- Processing sales on the till and maintaining beautiful book displays.
- Receiving deliveries and keeping the shop organised.
- Supporting book launches, evening and weekend events and community activities.
- Helping maintain a clean, welcoming and inspiring space.
We're looking for someone who:
- Loves romance books and is excited by the bookish community.
- Has previous retail, barista or bar experience (preferred).
- Is confident, friendly and enjoys chatting with customers.
- Can work efficiently in a busy environment.
- Is organised, reliable and has great attention to detail.
- Is available to work evenings and weekends as part of a flexible rota.
