Role Overview
This is a trainee-level, full-time position suited to someone who is enthusiastic about web development, design, and digital marketing and keen to build practical skills. You will work across client websites, learning to build, maintain, and optimise them under the guidance of experienced team members.
The role centres on WordPress for development, with a strong SEO component using Rank Math and SE Ranking. A small amount of website building experience and/or understanding is preferred but we do not expect all candidates to arrive with expertise in all of these - a genuine interest and a willingness to learn are what matter most.
This is an office-based role located in Newtown, Fareham, Hampshire. Due to the office location, the successful candidate will require their own transport.
During certain periods, there may also be opportunities to become involved in a wider range of IT-related projects and tasks, providing additional exposure to different areas of technology and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Web Development
- Building and updating client websites using WordPress
- Assisting with website edits, content updates, and general site maintenance
- Helping to ensure sites are responsive, fast-loading, and visually consistent
- Supporting the team with theme customisation and layout work inside WordPress
SEO & Digital Visibility
- Assisting with on-page SEO tasks using Rank Math, including meta data, schema, and content writing and optimisation
- Supporting keyword research, competitor analysis, and reporting using SE Ranking
- Helping to monitor website performance and rankings, producing simple client-ready reports
- Implementing basic technical SEO improvements under guidance (redirects, sitemaps, structured data)
General & Client Support
- Collaborating with the team to deliver client projects on time and to brief
- Assisting with simple graphic or visual asset creation where needed
- Keeping internal documentation and project notes up to date
- Attending client meetings and contributing ideas to improve client outcomes
Skills & Experience
Essential
- A genuine interest in websites, digital marketing, or design - this role will be built around your enthusiasm
- An eye for design and attention to visual detail; you notice when something doesn't look quite right
- Good written communication skills in English
- Ability to manage your time and work independently
- A proactive attitude and willingness to ask questions and take direction
Desirable (any of the following are a bonus - not required)
- Hands-on experience with WordPress (even personal projects count)
- Familiarity with a page builder such as Bricks, Elementor, or similar
- Basic knowledge of SEO concepts, keyword research, or Google Search Console
- Experience with SE Ranking, Rank Math, Yoast, or similar tools
- A background or qualifications in graphic design, digital marketing, or a related field
- Basic HTML/CSS knowledge — you don't need to be a coder, but it helps
- Experience using the Adobe Suite, or similar design tools
