We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on food professional with a genuine passion for food to join us as Head of Production & Packaging. This role is ideal for a strong food prep chef who’s ready to take ownership of production and packaging within a growing, accredited food business.
We have recently completed our SALSA accreditation and are preparing to supply our first major retailer, making this an exciting time to join the team. Full training will be provided, particularly around compliance, logging, and accreditation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage all aspects of production and packaging.
Supervise and manager a small team of up to 2 team members.
Prepare and package fermented food and drink products to a consistently high standard
Maintain strict quality control across all products
Carry out data logging and record keeping to meet SALSA accreditation and compliance standards
Follow food safety, hygiene, and production processes accurately
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, workflow, and production processes
Support scaling up production as volume increases
Ensure a clean, organised, and well-run production environment
Skills & Experience
Experience working in food production or as a food prep chef (essential)
Experience with fermented foods is preferred but not essential
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Comfortable following processes, logging data, and working within compliance standards
Proactive mindset with an interest in improving systems and efficiency
Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
Training & Development
Full training provided on fermentation processes (if needed)
Training provided on SALSA accreditation requirements and compliance logging
Opportunity to grow with the business as production volume increases
Hours & Progression
Initially part-time: 24 hours per week roughly, working Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday daytime shifts.
Hours and responsibilities are expected to increase over the coming months as the business grows
