Job Title: Production Executive
Department: IMG Studios – European Tour Productions (ETP) Golf
Main Purpose of Job
To ensure operational excellence across a portfolio of live and non-live golf content.
Accountable to the Head of Golf Content ensuring that content is produced efficiently, on spec, on budget and is compliant.
To lead and line manage the Production Management team providing support, guidance and troubleshooting, whilst also taking responsibility for their development including training, coaching, and dealing with performance management issues.
Working closely with the Head of Finance to ensure budgets and cost forecasts are available and accurate. Also working with Legal and Risk Management teams to ensure compliance and best practice.
A senior lead in the department, representing the values of IMG, championing initiatives including Sustainability, DEI strategies and Mental Wellbeing.

IMG Studios is searching for an experienced and talented Production Executive to join our busy and dynamic golf team. Supporting the Head of Golf Content and Head of Production and overseeing a team of Production Managers (PMs) this is a senior, client-facing role that will oversee and drive the day-to-day production output for European Tour Productions golf content. Live events take place year-round globally and include World Feed coverage of the DP World Tour. The adjacent non-live content team produce Challenge Tour events, Digital, and Original & Branded content. This is a challenging and demanding role that links up production and all the shared services, including Finance, Legal, and Risk Management to ensure operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Finance
- Oversees multiple cost trackers, across a range of scales, providing recommendations to Producers and Production Managers for bringing budgets in on target. Advising the Executive Producer/Producer, Head of Production, and Head of Finance (HoF) in situations when concerns arise.
- Submit monthly financial forecasts - effectively project managing the process to ensure timely delivery by the production management team alongside narrative on variances.
- Ability to interpret editorial brief into a schedule for budgeting/operational purposes across a season.
- Budgeting for new and existing complex live events or shoots with multiple stakeholders.
- Alongside HoGC, HOP, other PEs & HOF ensure that there is a clear project plan and timetable for the annual budget round ensuring that key stakeholders and the PM team deliver all elements in a timely way.
- Create comparative financial documents to aid client decision-making.
Legal
- Manage larger commercial negotiations with key event suppliers and Legal team.
- Ensure all crew and suppliers are appropriately contracted for services provided. Ensuring appropriate legal paperwork is in place to include, but not limited to, Freelancer T&C’s, 3rd party supplier contracts, on-screen team agreements, other rights agreements etc., for all the programme areas the Production Executive is responsible for.
- Work with other PEs/HOP to feed into commercial and legal discussions for cross-departmental/multi-year suppliers.
- Liaise with Executive Producer on various schedules, including commentary, freelancers, and staff, and ensure contracts are issued, negotiated and signed. Manages issues within freelance and crew teams which may arise.
- Ability to draft deal memos to third party suppliers and ensures Company's commercial interests are met.
- Proactively suggests and implements solutions to standard contractual issues.
- Uses judgement to know when to escalate legal issues to HoGC / HOP / Legal.
HR
- Line manage a team of PMs, providing training and support to enable them to do their job and professionally develop, as well as dealing with performance management issues.
- Manage appraisals, conduct 1:1s, create personal development plans, and ensure wellbeing of the PM line reports.
- Liaising with the HR team as appropriate.
- Partake in recruitment process when needed for PMs and PCs.
- Keep up-to-date with employment/tax legislation including HMRC’s Film & TV guidelines and ensure freelance bookings are compliant with current IR35 policy.
- Ensure Working Time Directives and local employment legislations are followed in events/shoots.
- Ability to proactively identify and manage employee relation risks in advance of them becoming issues.
- Effectively manage team relationships within portfolio.
- Mentor and develop more junior team members.
Technical
- Key point of contact for Outside Broadcast (OB) suppliers. Working closely with Technical Managers (TMs) to ensure best service is retained and issues are raised in a timely manner.
- Recommend alternative workflows and work closely with TMs on pathway to increased remote production.
- Manage share of regular suppliers and run regular OB supplier meetings, keeping a track of risks and issues and escalate when necessary.
- Consult with Distribution team / TMs to assist with the development of technical productions plans, and the ability to convert those plans into budgets and schedules.
- Work with TMs to ensure supplier quotes are correct and include all necessary kit and crew to service requirements.
Risk Management
- Provides tactical approach to Security, Health & Safety (H&S), and Risk Management on events/shoots.
- Ensure all shoots are risk assessed by Producer and PM, and appropriate H&S and insurance sign-off has been given.
- Ensure teams have required H&S training (safe management of productions).
- Work with other PEs and Risk Management to develop policies to ensure best practice is undertaken.
- Assists with insurance queries and liaises with Risk Management team when necessary.
Operational
- Forward plan and set-up new and challenging events, including block booking of flights, hotels and identifying and negotiating with key suppliers before handing off to designated PM.
- Implements roadmaps/project plans and effectively communicates progress to HoGC and HOP.
- Assign workload across live production management team. May be required to PM some events/shoots where necessary.
- Run regular event ‘milestone’ meetings with team, and closely liaise with EPs to ensure editorial needs are met.
- Recommend methods to facilitate reduced costs and increased efficiency to enable creative vision to be achieved on-screen
- Advance planning with resource and scheduling requirements.
- Drive integration of the live and non-live teams to ensure efficiencies and collaboration is maximised.
- Implementation of ETP policies e.g. Travel Policy and responding to associated queries.
- From time to time will be expected to cover Production Managers’ leave as necessary.
- Occasional travel to an event may be required.
- Oversee the delivery of all programme material, ensuring that all paperwork and re-billing is satisfactorily completed meeting necessary timetables.
- Advise on complex shipping of people and kit to international events.
- To provide commercial/compliance advice to the programme producers during formulation of editorial policy.

Unusual Challenges or Circumstances
- Opportunity to travel to shoot / OB location, including internationally may be necessary. Occasional weekend work may be required on special events, but not regularly.
- DOILS would be available for days worked in addition to usual working pattern.

Knowledge and Experience
- Previous experience as a Line Producer or Production Executive; or extensive experience working as an established Production Manager with Live event credits and the ability to demonstrate financial, legal, risk, and people management skills and the ability to deal with these areas autonomously.
- Project management skills with the ability to keep across a significant number of productions whilst enabling the production management team to deliver on the detail.
- Knowledge of Outside Broadcast workflows.
- Experience of working on a variety of projects including live events.
- Experience of managing production teams (including production staff at Production Manager and Production Coordinator level).
- Extensive knowledge of archive clearance, music clearance, filming permits, contracts, insurance, risk assessments and Health and Safety.
- Solid understanding of employment/tax law, and experience negotiating agreements.
- Previous experience of creating, managing, and tracking large programme budgets.
- Ability to interpret editorial brief into a schedule for budgeting/operational purposes.
- Proven experience of possessing the ability to identify and solve problems.
- Previous experience of dealing directly with clients/federations/broadcasters.
