Job Summary
Join our friendly and professional healthcare team as a Phlebotomist & Chaperone, where you will play an important role in providing high-quality care and support to our service users. This is an exciting opportunity to combine your phlebotomy skills with chaperone responsibilities within a busy private healthcare clinic.
You will be responsible for collecting high-quality blood samples, supporting our clinicians during examinations and ultrasound appointments, and ensuring every service user receives a welcoming, respectful and reassuring experience. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional customer service alongside the highest standards of clinical care, safety and professionalism.
As our clinic provides services exclusively to adults, applicants should be confident working with service users aged 18 years and over.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venepuncture and collect blood specimens using safe, accurate phlebotomy techniques while maintaining service user comfort and specimen integrity.
- Act as a chaperone during ultrasound examinations and clinical procedures, ensuring dignity, privacy and safeguarding at all times.
- Verify service user identity and accurately prepare specimen labels and associated documentation.
- Follow strict infection prevention and control procedures, using appropriate aseptic techniques throughout all clinical activities.
- Provide reassurance and professional support to nervous or anxious service users, communicating clearly and compassionately throughout their appointment.
- Maintain a clean, organised and well-stocked clinical environment in accordance with clinic policies and infection control standards.
- Observe service users during and following procedures, responding appropriately to any concerns and seeking clinical assistance where required.
- Support the wider clinical and reception team to help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the clinic.
Experience & Skills
- Previous experience in a healthcare, clinical or private medical setting is highly desirable, particularly in phlebotomy.
- Competent knowledge of venepuncture techniques, anatomy and physiology relevant to blood collection.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, laboratory procedures and infection prevention practices.
- A recognised phlebotomy qualification or equivalent healthcare qualification is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to put service users at ease.
- A professional, compassionate and organised approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
