An exciting opportunity has arisen at The Antique Village: we are looking for a Retail Assistant Manager to join the team at our destination in Hele, Exeter.

Opened in 2019, The Antique Village brand has grown significantly year on year to become one of the country’s foremost Antique Centres. With over one hundred dealer concessions over three sales floors we are regularly featured on TV and have ambition to grow and develop even greater footfall and sales at our out of town destination. We have raised the bar on traditional Antiques Centres and pride ourselves on a professionally curated, well merchandised store with a welcoming atmosphere for our dealers and customers alike.

Overview
Join our dynamic retail team as an Assistant Retail Manager, where your energy and leadership will drive store success and create a welcoming environment for customers and staff alike. In this pivotal role, you will support the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining a motivated team. Your proactive approach will help foster a vibrant shopping experience while upholding company standards and financial accuracy.
What We Are Looking For
- A self-motivated individual with a minimum of 2 years retail management experience
- Personable and customer focussed individual
- Flair for visual merchandising and attention to detail

- Passion for vintage and antiques
This role is hands-on and physically demanding, requiring you to be on your feet all day with occasional heavy lifting; chests of drawers etc. Therefore, a good level of physical fitness is essential. The five day-a-week role requires you to work a weekend day.
Required Skills & Experience
- Previous team supervisory experience in a retail environment is required
- Demonstrated ability to support and develop a team in a customer focussed setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship building skills
- Strong planning and organisational abilities
- Commercial mindset
- Proven loss prevention experience
- Basic math skills are essential for cash handling, sales calculations and reporting
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and work collaboratively with colleagues
Duties
- Assist in managing all daily store operations
- Assist the manager to lead the team in delivering exceptional customer service, resolving issues promptly and professionally
- Help supervise staff schedules, training, and performance to ensure high productivity and morale
- Maintain accurate cash handling, sales reporting and administration
- Promote a positive shopping environment by ensuring the store is clean and organised
- Innovative visual merchandising creating an exciting and inviting store
- Collaborate with the store manager to implement sales strategies and promotional activities

Pay: £25,500.00 per year
