HR Officer (Maternity Cover) - Chichester

We're working with a well-established accountancy practice that's looking to appoint an experienced HR Officer to support the business for 1 year. This is a varied, standalone HR role where you'll work closely with the Partners and managers to ensure employees are supported throughout their journey with the firm.

The Role:
You'll take ownership of the firm's day-to-day HR function, supporting managers and employees across a broad range of people-related matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the end-to-end recruitment process, from advertising vacancies through to onboarding new starters, as well as dealing with agencies.
- Coordinating interviews and working closely with hiring managers.
- Managing probation reviews and ensuring new employees receive the support they need.
- Organising and monitoring annual appraisals and performance review processes.
- Supporting employee wellbeing initiatives and promoting a positive working environment.
- Providing guidance to managers on HR policies and employee relations matters.
- Maintaining accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Managing onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Assisting with staff training and development initiatives.
- Supporting absence management, holiday records and other employee lifecycle activities.
- Ensuring HR policies remain compliant with current employment legislation.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people and is happy operating across a broad generalist HR role.
Ideally you'll have:
- Great experience in a generalist HR position.
- Experience managing recruitment and onboarding.
- Knowledge of probation, appraisal and performance management processes.
- A good understanding of UK employment legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive approach and the confidence to work independently.
