We're a dental practice on Victoria Square in St Helens, and we're looking for a full-time Trainee Dental Nurse to join our team and train on the job.
No previous dental experience or dental qualifications are needed — we're looking for someone with the right attitude, who is reliable, good with people and genuinely wants to build a career in dentistry.
You'll be employed and working towards a recognised Dental Nursing qualification and eventual GDC registration. You'll learn the role properly in practice, working alongside our dentists, therapists and experienced dental nursing team.
We provide both NHS and private dentistry and are currently expanding our team and developing our private and cosmetic services, so you'll get exposure to a broad range of dentistry as you progress through your training.
What you'd actually be doing
You'll work alongside our clinical team from the beginning, gradually taking on more responsibility as your knowledge and confidence develop.
Your role will include:
- Assisting dentists and therapists during NHS and private treatments
- Preparing surgeries, instruments, materials and equipment before procedures
- Learning how to safely decontaminate and sterilise dental instruments
- Following infection prevention and cross-contamination procedures
- Keeping surgeries clean, organised, stocked and ready between patients
- Supporting and reassuring patients before, during and after treatment
- Learning about different dental procedures, instruments and materials
- Supporting accurate clinical records and documentation under supervision
- Monitoring clinical stock and helping make sure materials are available when needed
- Working with dentists, therapists, nurses and reception to keep the clinical day running smoothly
- Occasionally supporting reception with calls, appointments and patient enquiries
- Following practice policies, clinical protocols and health & safety procedures
- Attending apprenticeship training and completing the required coursework and assessments
As your training progresses, you'll develop the practical skills and knowledge required to become a qualified, GDC-registered Dental Nurse.

You don't need to already know how to be a Dental Nurse — that's what the training is for.

No previous dental experience is required.
