Junior Quantity Surveyor – Highways Maintenance

About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Junior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team, supporting the delivery of highway maintenance and civil engineering works across the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional to develop hands-on experience within a fast-paced contractor environment, working on live highway schemes including surfacing, drainage, reinstatement and infrastructure works.
Key Responsibilities
As a Junior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of projects from pre-contract through to final account. Duties will include:
- Assisting with measurement, quantity take-offs and cost planning
- Supporting the preparation of tender pricing and estimates
- Assisting in producing monthly valuations, applications for payment and cost reports
- Supporting the management of NEC contracts, including compensation events and early warnings
- Assisting with subcontractor procurement and account management
- Monitoring project costs and contributing to cost-to-complete forecasting
- Supporting the pricing and agreement of variations and change events
- Liaising with site teams to track progress and reconcile quantities against works completed
- Ensuring proper commercial records and documentation are maintained
- Attending site meetings and gaining exposure to project delivery environments
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Suitable qualification or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management / Civil Engineering
- Knowledge of NEC contracts or UK construction contracts
- Experience (placement or work) in civil engineering or highways sector
- Understanding of highway maintenance activities (e.g. surfacing, drainage, reinstatement works)
