What You’ll Be Doing
As a Graduate Technical Assessor, you will support the waste approval process, ensuring waste streams are accurately assessed, compliant, and correctly classified. Working alongside experienced Technical Assessors and the Technical Sales Manager, you’ll gain hands‑on experience in hazardous and non‑hazardous waste assessment, legislation, and compliance procedures.
Your key responsibilities will include:
· Reviewing and assessing waste streams, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS), WM3 classifications and pre‑acceptance information
· Supporting the pre‑acceptance and waste approval process in line with Environment Agency regulations, ADR and COSHH requirements
· Liaising with Technical Assessors and laboratory teams to arrange sampling and analysis
· Maintaining accurate documentation for audits, compliance and ISO standards
· Developing understanding of site permits, Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC), and treatment/disposal options
· Assisting with the review and investigation of Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs)
· Helping to improve efficiency within the waste approval process
· Monitoring waste approval turnaround time to support operational flow
· Supporting colleagues with technical assessments, documentation review and process improvement
· Communicating with customers to request missing documentation, clarify waste details and support classification
· Working with the commercial team to provide technical insights on disposal options
· Responding to customer queries relating to waste approvals and compliance
This role is ideal for someone organised, scientifically minded, and enthusiastic about learning within a regulated technical environment.
Working Hours
40 Hours a week. 08:30am to 17:00pm
Who We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Science A‑levels, science degree or equivalent
- Interest in waste classification, hazardous materials, chemistry or environmental compliance
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Confident communication skills and ability to work well in a team
