Do you want to work in a job which makes a difference to the local community and the people who live there? Working for the City of Doncaster Council as an Operations Manager within our Street Scene service could be perfect for you.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Street Scene Operations Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality street cleansing and grounds maintenance services across one of Doncaster’s locality areas. This is a key leadership role where you will inspire and manage a diverse operational workforce, ensuring our streets, parks and open spaces are maintained to the highest standards and contribute to our ambitions for a cleaner, greener borough.
Working within a fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Street Scene services, driving performance, customer satisfaction and legislative compliance. The role also involves managing budgets and resources, building effective relationships with residents, elected members and partner organisations, and providing expert operational advice to support strategic decision-making. As a senior manager, you will play a vital role in promoting a strong health and safety culture and supporting emergency response arrangements, including winter maintenance and standby services when required.
We are looking for someone who is resilient, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining a focus on service excellence. A strong understanding of health and safety responsibilities, coupled with sound judgement and a commitment to public service, equality, diversity and inclusion, will be essential. Above all, you will be passionate about making a visible difference to local communities and delivering services that residents can be proud of.
We value a range of experiences and skills. If you have transferable skills from other roles or voluntary work, we encourage you to apply.
We are passionate about creating environments that local people can be proud of and delivering services that improve quality of life for our residents. We foster a supportive, inclusive and collaborative culture where colleagues are encouraged to share ideas, challenge the status quo and contribute to continuous improvement. We believe that great services are delivered by empowered people, and we invest in learning, development and career progression. As part of the Place Directorate, you will work alongside dedicated professionals who are committed to making a real difference across the city. We value diversity, respect and teamwork, recognising that different perspectives help us achieve the best outcomes for our communities. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking service where your leadership can help shape cleaner, greener neighbourhoods and leave a lasting positive impact on Doncaster’s future.
