Pitlair House are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Domestic Assistant to join our growing team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organised living environment, within our home, ensuring that all household tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
This role is perfect for individuals who take pride in their work and have a passion for creating comfortable spaces.
Key Responsibilities
Domestic Duties:
- Clean residents’ rooms, bathrooms, communal areas and staff facilities to a high standard
- Dusting, vacuuming, mopping and sanitising surfaces regularly
- Replenish supplies such as soap, toilet paper and paper towels
- Ensure that all cleaning equipment and chemicals are used safely and stored correctly
- Follow infection control procedures and wear appropriate PPE
Laundry Duties:
- Collect, sort, wash, dry, iron and distribute residents' personal laundry and facility linens
- Check clothing and linens for damage or wear and report issues appropriately
- Ensure proper labelling and return of garments to the correct resident
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the laundry area
General Duties:
- Report any hazards, maintenance issues, or concerns about residents' welfare to the appropriate staff member
- Respect residents’ privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times
- Work as part of the care team to contribute to the overall wellbeing of residents
- Comply with health and safety, COSHH, and infection prevention policies
- Attend mandatory training and staff meetings as required
Requirements:
- Previous cleaning or laundry experience (desirable but not essential)
- Good understanding of hygiene and infection control standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Respectful, reliable, and compassionate approach to elderly care
- Physical fitness for manual tasks, including lifting and standing for long periods
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience in a care home or healthcare setting
- Knowledge of infection control procedures
- Basic understanding of dementia or elderly care environments
