Hub, Systems & Yard Assistant Controller

About the Role
We’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented Hub, Systems & Yard Assistant Controller to join our fast-paced logistics operation. In this role, you’ll support the Control Room Manager and Hub Controller in overseeing inbound and outbound operations, ensuring smooth sortation, efficient throughput, and excellent service delivery.

What You’ll Be Doing
As part of the Control Room team, your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and managing inbound and outbound operations, including throughput, parcel flow, and productivity levels
- Supporting delivery of forecasted cost per unit (CPU) targets against budget
- Producing and analysing operational data and reports to support decision-making
- Acting as a point of contact for client and operational queries, resolving issues quickly and effectively
- Supporting Gatehouse operations, liaising with Shunters and Gatehouse Coordinators
- Maintaining accurate and timely hourly and shift reporting
- Assisting in the training and development of Warehouse Operatives and Team Leaders on sortation processes and systems
- Managing the trunk despatch board, ensuring trailer close-down times are met
- Ensuring manifests are accurate and aligned with sorter counts
- Investigating and resolving missing parcel issues
- Monitoring sorter performance and ensuring the correct chutes are active
- Supporting health & safety, hygiene, and quality audits, ensuring compliance at all times
- Driving consistency and maintaining high standards across the Control Room
What We’re Looking For
Skills & Experience
- Experience in logistics or distribution operations
- Strong Excel skills (intermediate level)
- Ability to work under pressure and use your own initiative
- Comfortable working with systems, data, and operational technology
