We are UCL: a diverse community with the freedom to challenge and think differently. The world urgently needs solutions to diverse problems. UCL was founded 200 years ago on the generosity of a collective of people who believed in an institution that could drive forward those solutions. The world needed collective support then, and it needs it again now.
In response, UCL has launched Here, it will happen, our biggest philanthropic and engagement campaign yet. Here, it will happen sets out our ambitions to solve global health, societal, climate and education challenges in UCL’s next century. Here, we have the determination to double down on our discoveries, translate our innovations into impact and inspire the citizens of the future.
There has never been a more exciting time to join UCL Advancement. We are a team of exceptionally ambitious, creative and passionate individuals who work together to achieve remarkable things with a global impact, and we would love for you to be part of this exciting journey and our success. Here, it will happen.
As Alumni Volunteering Manager, you will play a key role in developing and delivering UCL's alumni volunteering programme, creating meaningful opportunities for alumni to support students and contribute to the university community. Working across a diverse portfolio of initiatives, you will recruit, engage and steward volunteers, coordinate flagship programmes including alumni mentoring, and help shape new opportunities that strengthen alumni engagement throughout the student lifecycle.
Working closely with colleagues across Advancement and the wider university, you will build strong partnerships to expand volunteering opportunities, champion best practice and ensure volunteers have an outstanding experience. You'll use insight and data to evaluate impact, continuously improve programmes and help direct volunteer activity towards strategic priorities including student recruitment, student experience and graduate outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible impact on both alumni engagement and the experience of current and future UCL students.
This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 20% on site.
We are happy to consider applications to work on a part-time/flexible basis wherever possible (minimum 0.8 FTE – equivalent of 4 days per week, stated salary to be pro-rata).
To find out more about the role, please contact Tim Winward-Hart, Senior Alumni and Supporter Relations Manager, ([email protected]).
Please use the attached cover letter upload option to tell us how you meet the essential and desirable criteria in the person specification.
You'll have experience of managing volunteering, mentoring or engagement programmes, with a proven ability to recruit, develop and retain volunteers while building strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You'll be an excellent communicator with strong project management and organisational skills, comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
We're looking for someone who enjoys working collaboratively across a complex organisation, has experience using CRM systems to record and evaluate programme activity, and uses evidence and data to inform decision making. Experience within higher education, alumni relations, charities, membership organisations, local government or the wider third sector would be advantageous, alongside an understanding of the needs of students and recent graduates.
We are pleased to accept applications from individuals who possess transferable skills and experience drawn from sectors outside of Higher Education.
