JN Environmental Ltd is a growing water engineering company specialising in private water supplies, water treatment systems, pumps, servicing, breakdowns and installations.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for another engineer to join our existing engineering team.
We are looking for someone with a practical, hands-on background who wants to develop into a skilled water treatment engineer. Previous water treatment experience is not essential, as full on-the-job training will be provided.
Some previous mechanical, electrical, plumbing, engineering or maintenance experience would, however, be a strong advantage.
We have a strong ex-military background within the company and particularly welcome applications from former Armed Forces personnel with practical, engineering or technical experience.
The role
Working alongside our existing engineers, you will be trained across all areas of our work, including:
- Servicing domestic and commercial water treatment systems
- Installation of water filters, softeners, tanks, pumps and associated equipment
- Pump servicing and repairs
- Breakdown response and fault finding
- Water sampling
- Water tank cleaning and chlorination
- Private water supply systems
- Basic electrical and mechanical diagnostics
As your knowledge and experience develops, you will be given increasing responsibility for your own servicing, repairs and breakdown work.
What we're looking for
We are particularly interested in someone who is:
- Practical and mechanically minded
- Keen to learn and develop their engineering skills
- Interested in fault finding and understanding how systems work
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a small team
- Reliable and able to use their own initiative
- Happy working outdoors, in plant rooms and in physically demanding environments
- Willing to travel throughout the UK
- Happy to stay away from home overnight when jobs require it
- Flexible when breakdowns or jobs run beyond normal working hours
Basic plumbing, electrical, mechanical or engineering knowledge would be advantageous but specialist water-treatment experience is not required.
Essential requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Existing right to work in the UK
- Based within Greater Manchester or within a reasonable commuting distance of Bury
- Willing and able to travel throughout the UK and stay away overnight when required
****Please note: JN Environmental is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position****

Full specialist training will be provided on the job by our experienced engineering team.
The company will also provide relevant external training and qualifications, including:
- Confined Space Entry
- Water hygiene/chlorination training

- Additional technical training as the role develops
There is genuine opportunity to progress within the engineering team as your experience and technical ability develop.
