Purpose of the Job:
The Group Coordinator will lead and oversee the development, brokerage and facilitation of volunteering opportunities, peer support activities and groups for people who have severe and enduring mental health needs. The role will support individuals to rebuild confidence, develop meaningful social connections and take part in activities within their local community. The post holder will hold a small caseload.

Good general education, with qualifications equivalent to 5 or more GCSEs, or significant equivalent experience
Knowledge of the role of peer support within mental health services
Understanding of the impact of stigma and discrimination in relation to mental health
Knowledge of local volunteering, community and peer support opportunities
Knowledge of adult safeguarding procedures
Understanding of MyMUP or similar systems
At least 2 years' experience in a community development, group facilitation, health development, mental health setting or similar role
Experience of engaging and supporting people to improve health, wellbeing and recovery outcomes
Experience of planning, co-ordinating and facilitating community-based groups or activities and providing one-off taster sessions or training
Experience of supporting people to build confidence, develop social connections and take part in community activities
Experience of helping people identify strengths and interests, including supporting access to volunteering opportunities where appropriate
Experience of working with volunteers, peer supporters or community partners
Experience of supporting people with mental health difficulties, including severe and enduring mental health needs
Training qualification or experience of delivering training or group sessions
Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively at a range of levels
Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate group activities
Ability to support people to access community activities and volunteering opportunities in a structured and person-centred way
Ability to assess and respond to risk in different community settings, including group activities and volunteering-related activity
Competent IT skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability to manage a small caseload and workload effectively
Ability to build networks and work across a range of settings, agencies and organisations
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to travel around the area in line with work requirements
Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends
