The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Manager to join our Welfare Benefits team. The role requires a candidate to have previous experience in a managerial position and an understanding of welfare benefits. The ideal candidate will be competent in administration and will think analytically and logically to help identify problems.
Your responsibilities
- To oversee and manage the team responsible for carrying out assessments of cases to identify welfare benefit entitlements and maximize income.
- To provide leadership to ensure our customers receive the best welfare benefits advice, maximizing their income where possible, reducing arrears, and assisting in improving general wellbeing.
- To oversee the process of assisting customers with benefits appeals processes, including attendance and representation at appeal and review hearings.
- To ensure full financial assessments are carried out detailing income and expenditure, as well as identifying personal circumstances, to provide the most appropriate welfare benefits advice.
About you
- Experience within a managerial role with the ability to manage your own workload as well as support your team. You will have a proactive approach and the ability to meet deadlines.
- You would display a real commitment to customer service, be enthusiastic and empathetic, have a proven ability to build positive working relationships across our teams and with external organizations.
- Strong leadership and time management skills are essential, coupled with a drive and motivation to contribute to an organization dedicated to enhancing its services and positively impacting the lives of our customers.
- Excellent IT skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential. Training will be provided for our in-house computer programme.
About us
Owl Guardian Services was founded in 2013. We provide professional support across England with the management and safeguarding of finances and property, for those who are not able to deal with their own affairs or require assistance. We undertake this work with the authority of either a Court of Protection Deputyship Order, a Power of Attorney agreement, or an Appointeeship. Our in-house teams, consisting of Benefits, Accounts, Client Liaison, and Property, work together to manage the cases efficiently and cohesively.
Essential skills and experience
- Experience in leading and managing teams, engaging, supporting, and working with hard-to-reach customers and their families with complex needs.
- The ability to think about and understand health-related concerns within the wider context of an individual’s life experience, family, and social context.
- An understanding of Welfare Benefits.
