We're a dental practice on Victoria Square in St Helens, and we're looking for a Dental Nurse to join us for a minimum of 3 days a week — more if you'd like them. We do both NHS and private work, and we're currently adding to the team, upgrading our equipment, and building up our private and cosmetic side. It's a good moment to join.
What you'd actually be doing
You'd work chairside with our dentists and therapists across NHS and private treatments, and help keep each day running smoothly. In practice that means:
- Assisting chairside across NHS and private treatments
- Getting surgeries, instruments and materials ready before each procedure
- Keeping on top of infection prevention and cross-contamination control
- Handling decontamination and sterilisation to current guidance
- Putting patients at ease before, during and after treatment
- Keeping surgeries clean, stocked and ready between patients
- Writing up clinical notes accurately
- Keeping an eye on stock so nothing runs low mid-session
- Working with clinicians, other nurses and reception to keep the day on track
- Occasionally helping out on reception — calls, bookings, payments, patients
- Following our protocols and health & safety procedures

- You're punctual and organised, and your surgery reflects that
- You're used to the pace of a busy practice
- You can work well with different dentists and therapists
- You take infection control seriously, every time
- You communicate clearly with patients and colleagues
- You're looking for somewhere to stay, not just a stopgap
You'll need to be GDC registered. Experience in general practice is a plus, but if you're the right person, we're happy to talk regardless.
