Job Description:
As the Bistro Assistant Manager, you will be responsible, along with the Bistro Manager, for overseeing all aspects of our bistro’s operations. From managing the staff and ensuring exceptional customer service to maintaining high standards in food quality and cleanliness, you will play a key role in creating a positive and efficient environment for both customers and employees. The Bistro at Dunston Hall is a daytime hours operation with occasional evening special events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Staff Management: Recruit, train, and manage a team of front-of-house staff. Foster a positive work culture, conduct regular performance evaluations, and address any staffing issues.
- Customer Experience: Ensure that every guest has an outstanding dining experience. Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints with professionalism and a focus on customer satisfaction.
- Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations, including scheduling, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Oversee opening and closing procedures.
- Financial Management: Assist the Bistro Manager with Monitoring financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, and revenue generation. Analyse sales reports and implement strategies to achieve financial goals.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and service. Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure consistency and excellence in every dish served.
- Marketing & Promotions: Support the Manager with the marketing team to develop and implement promotional strategies to attract new customers and retain loyal ones. Manage social media presence and community outreach efforts.
- Problem-Solving: Address any operational challenges that arise, including staffing issues, supply chain disruptions, or customer concerns. Ensure the smooth running of the bistro at all times.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a management/supervisory role within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on creating a welcoming and positive dining experience.
- An understanding of financial management and supporting the Manager including budgeting, cost control, and sales analysis.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices in food service.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer software.
