Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and vigilant Predominantly Night Shift Security Guard to protect our construction/building site during non-working hours. The successful candidate will be responsible for securing the site, monitoring access points, conducting patrols, preventing theft and vandalism, and responding to incidents to ensure the safety of personnel, equipment, and materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the security of the construction site throughout the night shift.
- Conduct regular patrols of the site perimeter, buildings, storage areas, and equipment compounds.
- Monitor and control access to the site, ensuring only authorised personnel are permitted entry.
- Check gates, fencing, locks, and security barriers to ensure they remain secure.
- Monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and other security equipment where installed.
- Prevent unauthorised access, theft, vandalism, and damage to company property.
- Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, emergencies, and suspicious activity.
- Maintain accurate security logs, patrol records, and incident reports.
- Report any health and safety concerns, hazards, or breaches to site management.
- Liaise with emergency services, management, and contractors when necessary.
- Perform site opening and closing procedures where required.
Requirements
- Valid SIA Security Guarding or Door Supervisor Licence.
- Previous experience in security, preferably on construction or industrial sites.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong observation, communication, and reporting skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional approach to work.
- Ability to remain alert and focused during overnight shifts.
Desirable Qualifications
- CCTV Operator Licence.
- First Aid at Work certification.
- Experience in construction site security.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
Working Conditions
- Primarily night-time working hours.
- Outdoor and indoor duties in all weather conditions.
- Regular walking patrols and prolonged periods of standing.
- Lone working may be required.
- Quiet periods may require continuous monitoring and vigilance.
Key Duties During Night Shift
- Hourly or scheduled patrols of the entire site.
- Security checks on plant machinery, tools, containers, and stored materials.
- Monitoring for signs of trespassing, theft, or suspicious activity.
- Recording patrol times and observations in the site security log.
- Ensuring all site access points remain locked and secure.
- Immediate reporting of incidents to management and emergency services when required
Pay: From £12.71 per hour
