The Role
We’re looking for a dynamic, proactive Technical Manager to join us on a part time basis. We have a capable food quality team handling day-to-day safety and quality admin — what we need is someone to mentor them and oversee their work and professional development, to take ownership of the top-level technical function, and help us stay on track for BRC accreditation in 2027.
This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll set the technical direction, manage relationships with our key partners, and make sure our documentation and audit performance stand up to scrutiny as we grow into the retail market.
Working Pattern:
Minimum 2 days per week on-site at our factory in Battersea, plus WFH / on-call availability, totalling 3 days per week, a flexible arrangement Is possible as long as you are completing the work required.
Responsibilities
- Guide and Mentor our existing technical/quality team, reviewing their work and KPI’s on a weekly basis
- Create and maintain detailed risk assessments and HACCP documentation
- Lead the HACCP team for meetings and annual review
- Manage our audit programme (10+ audits per year), ensuring corrective actions are tracked, closed out, and clearly documented for easy access
- Cultivate relationships with our partners in foodservice and retail - we regularly host technical, commercial and NPD teams onsite, the technical department plays a vital role in building confidence and meeting their unique requirements
- Oversee our staff training program
- Work together with the NPD team on new product launches
Experience
Essential:
- Prior experience running the technical department at a BRC-accredited food business
- Strong understanding of HACCP and food safety standards
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex technical data
- Confident communicator, comfortable managing relationships internally and externally
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Desirable:
- An understanding of / enthusiasm for, fermentation and gut health
- Prior experience working with national retail chains
- Prior experience working as a BRC auditor or equivalent
Pay: £24,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
