Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a vibrant educational setting in Islington, starting in September. The successful candidate will support classroom teachers and work closely with students, including those with special educational needs. Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons across various subjects
- Support children with special educational needs, including those with autism and other disabilities
- Provide one-to-one tutoring and mentoring to students requiring additional help
- Implement personalised learning programmes tailored to individual student requirements
- Supervise and manage classroom activities to ensure a safe and inclusive environment
- Support behavioural management strategies and promote positive behaviour among pupils
- Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to monitor student progress
- Contribute to the preparation of learning materials and resources as needed
Skills
- Proven experience working within special education settings or with individuals with disabilities
- Strong understanding of working with children, including those with autism or behavioural challenges
- Excellent communication skills, capable of building rapport with pupils, staff, and parents
- Demonstrated ability to tutor, mentor, and support students’ academic and personal development
- Knowledge of current educational practices related to special educational needs (SEN)
- Organised, adaptable, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Passionate about fostering inclusive learning environments that support diverse learner needs
