The Delivery and Yard Coordinator will manage transport logistics, loading operations, and yard organization across our two primary fabrication sites. This role ensures finished stone and solid surface products are securely packaged, safely loaded, and tracked accurately using internal systems.
We are seeking an energetic professional with a proactive, "can-do" attitude who understands the commercial impact of logistics. You will recognize that going above and beyond to hit deadlines directly prevents costly project delays, protects customer relationships, and minimizes product damage. The position requires a high degree of flexibility regarding working hours, split-site working, and relief driving.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics, Multi-Site Travel & Delivery Cover
- Dual-Site Coordination: Move seamlessly between our two main facilities (located less than half a mile apart) to coordinate logistics. A company vehicle is provided for travel between sites.
- Organize Internal Drivers: Schedule daily routes and dispatch internal delivery staff efficiently based on project urgency.
- Track Job Readiness: Monitor the fabrication timeline to queue completed stone and solid surface jobs for immediate transit.
- Holiday Delivery Cover: Step in to drive and execute customer deliveries using a 3.5-tonne Long Wheelbase (LWB) van when permanent internal delivery staff are away on annual leave.
- Digital Record Keeping: Log and maintain all Proof of Delivery (POD) documents in internal software systems immediately upon job completion.
Yard & Inventory Management
- Maintain Yard Organisation: Manage external yard layouts to keep raw stone slabs and materials neatly arranged, safe, and easily accessible.
- Facilitate Stock Takes: Ensure the external yard remains clean and structured so inventory teams can execute fast, thorough, and accurate stock takes.
Loading, Packaging, & Shift Flexibility
- Flexible Shift Operations: Work dynamic hours to accommodate business needs, including early morning starts and late evening finishes.
- Late Evening Loading: Facilitate and assist with late evening vehicle loading to guarantee transport staff can depart promptly the following morning.
- Forklift Operation: Safely operate heavy forklifts to move, stack, and load fragile stone slabs and solid surface materials.
- Secure Packaging: Oversee and assist with heavy lifting, ensuring all finished pieces are securely strapped and padded onto A-frame transport racks to prevent transit breakage.
Core Requirements
- Licensing & Driving Competency: Full, clean driving licence with proven experience competently driving a 3.5-tonne Long Wheelbase (LWB) van for deliveries and site transfers.
- Licensing: Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) license is mandatory.
- Mindset: A strong "can-do" attitude with a clear understanding of commercial consequences (e.g., how delays, missed PODs, or poor packaging affect the company's bottom line and reputation).
- Flexibility: Absolute willingness to adjust working hours for early shifts, late finishes, and evening loading windows as production demands change.
- Experience: Background in a stone yard, builders' merchant, or heavy manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
- Tech Literacy: Competent with digital inventory systems and mobile apps for real-time POD logging.
- Physical Fitness: Capable of handling heavy materials and working comfortably in outdoor yard environments.
Upon quieter days or weeks, you will be available to assist the factory with various works, supporting worktop fabricators and/or worktop fitters on site.
We will provide full training on all aspects to help you to perform to the highest standards. A clean license with no disqualifications in the last 5 years is a requirement. Our vehicle insurance requires a minimum age of 25+.
