(Due to the nature of fundraising and community work, there will be a requirement to work evenings and weekends, including events, community activities and meetings. These will be agreed in advance where possible.)

Job Purpose
The Fundraising Manager will lead on the development, coordination and delivery of YMCA Worcestershire’s fundraising activity. The role will focus on securing sustainable income through fundraising and community and corporate partnerships, while also strengthening the organisation’s profile, messaging and stakeholder engagement across Worcestershire.
The post holder will be an experienced fundraiser and communicator with a strong understanding of the voluntary and community sector. Working closely with the Head of Business Development, colleagues and delivery teams, they will play a pivotal role in telling the YMCA Worcestershire story, evidencing impact, and building strong relationships with funders, partners and the wider community.
Objective
To secure sustainable income and strengthen strategic partnerships that enable YMCA Worcestershire to deliver high‑quality services for children, young people and communities. The role will focus on growing and diversifying fundraising income, developing meaningful community and corporate partnerships, and strengthening the organisation’s profile and reputation. All activity will be delivered in line with YMCA values, policies and procedures, ensuring strong stewardship of relationships and clear evidence of impact.
To achieve this, you will:
Fundraising Strategy & Development
- With support from the Head of Business Development, shape and deliver a clear, coordinated fundraising and communications strategy aligned to organisational priorities.
- Develop and implement annual, events-led fundraising plans focused on community fundraising, challenge events, campaigns and corporate-supported activities.
- Plan, coordinate and deliver a programme of fundraising events that engage local communities, supporters, volunteers and corporate partners.
- Assist departmental leads (Youth, Nurseries, Housing, Family Support and Community) by helping to identify partners, volunteers, in-kind support, or donated resources where appropriate.
- Keep informed of local and national fundraising and sector trends, funding opportunities and communications best practice.
- Engage, recruit and lead volunteers, providing high-quality supervision and support
Fundraising, Income Generation & Sustainability
· Lead on the planning and delivery of fundraising events, campaigns and community-based initiatives to generate sustainable, unrestricted income.
· Develop and grow corporate partnerships, including sponsorship, employee fundraising and cause-related marketing opportunities.
· Identify opportunities to maximise income from events through ticket sales, sponsorship, donations and partnerships.
· Contribute to income forecasting, budget monitoring and reporting for fundraising activity, ensuring strong return on investment and long-term sustainability.
Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key community stakeholders including local councilors, social prescribing networks, community groups, faith organisations, and statutory partners.
- Act as an ambassador for YMCA Worcestershire within local communities, promoting our values, services and impact.
- Support co-design and community-led approaches, ensuring local people have a voice in shaping provision.
- Represent YMCA Worcestershire at external meetings, forums, events, and networking opportunities.
- Develop collaborative partnerships that enhance service delivery, community reach, and long-term sustainability.
Monitoring, Reporting & Quality Assurance
- Record, monitor and report on key performance data, outputs and outcomes in line with funding and organisational requirements.
- Contribute to reports and presentations for funders, senior management, trustees and partners.
- Support the effective use of CRM and monitoring systems to evidence impact and inform service development.
General
- Attend training, supervision, appraisal and service meetings as required.
- Adhere to all YMCA Worcestershire policies and procedures, including safeguarding, equality, diversity and health & safety.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role.
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a fundraising, communications, community engagement or related role.
- Demonstrable experience of delivering successful fundraising activity, particularly events, campaigns or community fundraising.
- Experience of working with supporters, donors, volunteers or corporate partners.
- Experience of planning, delivering and evaluating income-generating activity.
Desirable Qualification & Experience:
- Experience within the YMCA Movement in different roles
- Experience of managing staff, volunteers or fundraising committees.
- Experience of corporate fundraising or sponsorship development.
Essential Skills & Abilities:
- Strong relationship-building and networking skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of supporters and partners.
- Ability to plan, organise and deliver fundraising events and campaigns.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including storytelling and impact messaging.
- Ability to manage budgets, monitor income and assess return on investment.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Confident use of IT systems including Microsoft Office and CRM or fundraising databases.
Desirable Skills & Abilities:
- Experience of marketing or promoting fundraising events through digital or community channels.
- Experience of using data and insight to grow supporter engagement.
Essential Knowledge:
- Understanding of community fundraising principles and events-based income generation.
- Awareness of safeguarding, health & safety and risk management in relation to events and public-facing activity.
Desirable Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the voluntary and community sector within Worcestershire or the wider region.

- Confident, personable and able to act as an ambassador for the organisation.

Additional Information: Principal Terms and Conditions of Appointment
1. This is a permanent contract.
2. Due to the nature of the role evening and weekend work will be required.
3. Paid annual holiday entitlement is 5.6 weeks a year, increasing incrementally to a maximum of 1.0 additional week after 5 years.
4. YMCA Worcestershire offers optional membership of a flexible defined contribution Personal Pension scheme and health care plan.
5. Employment will be conditional upon receipt of satisfactory DBS Disclosure and references and be subject to satisfactory completion of a probation period of six months.
6. The successful candidate will be expected to comply with the YMCA’s Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults Policy and Procedure.
7. The successful applicant will need to be able to access sites in Worcestershire and its environs in the fulfilment of the role. A clean driving licence and access to a car is therefore a requirement of the post.
