Front of House Server
The Greyhound, Pettistree
The Greyhound Pettistree is looking for a Front of House Server to join our team.
We are a free house in Pettistree, Suffolk, with a focus on generous hospitality, high standards and quality in everything we do. From the first welcome to the final drink, we want every guest to feel properly looked after.
This role is all about service, pace, warmth and a genuine interest in food and drink. Our menu changes every week, our wine list is there to be learned and enjoyed, and our cocktails are made with care. We are looking for someone who wants to get stuck in, learn quickly, take pride in the details and help create the kind of experience guests want to come back for.
The role
You’ll be part of the team delivering relaxed, confident and attentive service across the restaurant and bar. That means welcoming guests, reading the room, talking through the weekly menu, serving food and drinks, learning the wine list, training to make cocktails and keeping service moving smoothly.
It’s a hands-on role in a place that cares about doing things well.
What you’ll be doing
- Making guests feel welcome, comfortable and looked after.
- Learning our weekly menu and understanding what makes each dish special.
- Getting to know the wine list and building confidence with recommendations.
- Training to make and serve cocktails to The Greyhound’s standards.
- Serving food and drinks with care, pace and attention.
- Keeping the dining room and bar sharp, clean and ready for service.
- Communicating clearly with the kitchen, bar and front of house team.
- Noticing the details: empty glasses, waiting guests, tables that need resetting, and the little things that make service feel effortless.
- Handling questions, feedback and guest requests with warmth and common sense.
- Helping create a service that feels generous, polished and personal.
What we’re looking for
- A genuine interest in food, drink and great service.
- Warmth, confidence and good energy with guests.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Pride in the details and a calm approach during busy services.
- Reliability, clear communication and a team-first attitude.
Previous restaurant, pub or bar experience is helpful, but the right attitude matters most.
Non-negotiables
- Start date: July 2026.
- This is a long-term role with training and development, not holiday or out-of-term work.
- Availability to work Wednesday to Sunday, including evenings and weekends.
- Able to drive or reliably commute to The Greyhound Pettistree.
