North Star Day Nursery, part of Grandir UK, is looking for a proactive and experienced Nursery Manager to lead our brand-new, purpose-built setting in Welwyn. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the nursery from the beginning, build a strong and supportive team and create an inspiring environment in which children can learn, develop and thrive.

About Our Nursery
North Star is an exciting, brand-new, purpose-built day nursery in Welwyn, thoughtfully designed to provide children with a safe, stimulating and welcoming environment.
The nursery offers bright, modern learning spaces where children can explore their interests and develop confidence through play. Children will also benefit from a dedicated garden, nutritious meals freshly prepared by an on-site chef and Grandir UK’s established early years curriculum and educational programmes.
While North Star is supported by Grandir UK’s experience and robust processes, the nursery will retain its own individual identity. Location and Travel
North Star Day Nursery is located at 82 Great North Road, Oaklands, Welwyn, Hertfordshire, AL6 0TA.
Its location on Great North Road provides convenient access for families and colleagues travelling from Welwyn, Welwyn Garden City, Stevenage and the surrounding Hertfordshire areas. What Will You Be Doing?
- Provide strong, visible leadership and create a positive culture across the nursery
- Recruit, induct, support, train and appraise the nursery team to ensure the delivery of high-quality childcare
- Promote high standards across the nursery environment, resources and experiences offered to children
- Ensure every child receives rich and stimulating experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development
- Maintain accurate children’s, staffing and nursery records
- Manage administrative duties including ordering equipment, maintaining inventories and keeping personnel records
- Facilitate inspections by regulatory bodies and implement any recommendations
- Ensure the nursery remains compliant, including maintaining appropriate staffing levels and relevant first aid qualifications
- Agree and deliver occupancy targets while supporting the sustainable growth of the nursery
- Develop positive and professional relationships with parents, carers and the local community
- Ensure safeguarding, health and safety and regulatory requirements are consistently met
What We’re Looking For
- A full and relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification
- Previous Nursery Manager or senior nursery leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and Ofsted requirements
- A confident and supportive leadership style
- Experience of recruiting, developing and motivating nursery teams
- The ability to manage occupancy, budgets and operational performance
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A genuine commitment to providing exceptional experiences for children and families
