MIG Welder – PM Shift

We’re recruiting experienced MIG Welders for a fantastic sheet metal manufacturer in Leicestershire. You’ll be joining a proper fabrication environment, working from engineering drawings and producing a mixture of sheet metal components where the quality of your welding genuinely matters.
Job Title: MIG Welder – PM Shift
Money: Up to £18.00 per hour, completely depending on experience and the standard of your weld test
Hours / Shifts:
Monday to Wednesday, 2:00pm – Midnight
Thursday, 2:00pm – 11:30pm
Friday OFF

What’s the job?
This is a hands on MIG Welding position within a busy sheet metal fabrication environment.
You’ll be working from engineering drawings, welding components to specification and making sure what leaves your bench is right before it moves onto the next stage of production.
Day to day, you’ll be:
- MIG welding sheet metal components.
- Reading and working from engineering drawings.
- Welding components accurately to specification.
- Producing clean, consistent and repeatable welds.
- Carrying out visual inspections of your own work.
- Checking finished components before they move through production.
- Keeping your welding area clean, safe and organised.
- Supporting the wider fabrication team to achieve production targets.
There’s a mixture of work going through the fabrication shop, so they need Welders who can maintain a good standard throughout the shift rather than somebody who needs every job setting up for them.
What experience do you need?
You’ll need previous MIG welding experience within a fabrication or sheet metal environment.
You should be confident:
- MIG welding sheet metal components.
- Reading and understanding engineering drawings.
- Working accurately to specification.
- Producing clean and consistent welds.
- Inspecting the quality of your own work.
- Working independently within a busy fabrication environment.
- Maintaining quality while working at a sensible production pace.
Most importantly, you’ll need to be confident completing a practical MIG weld test.
The hourly rate is genuinely dependent on what you can do.
If you’re an experienced Welder who performs strongly on the weld test, the rate can go up to £18.00 per hour.
