Job description
We have a part time weekend and evening position available for a Shop Assistant to join the team at J Andrew Shop & Post Office. The position will be to work Saturday and Sunday daytime from 7.30 am until 2.30pm and one evening in the week from 2.30pm until 8.30pm.
As a company we aim to have the highest level of customer service. All applicants should be confident, friendly and most importantly should go above and beyond to aid customers with any queries or help they might need.
We require staff to have excellent product knowledge of the wide variety of products and local suppliers that we currently stock.
In addition to the public facing aspects, you will also be responsible for cleaning tasks, following checklists and keeping both front and back of house areas tidy and organised.
Responsibilities:
- Learn till system to sell a variety of products, discounts and price changes
- Printing off end of day reports.
- Make sure all shelves are well stocked, ensure the correct date rotation is carried out and follow company procedures with products coming to the end of their shelf life.
- Unload, check off, stock up and store appropriately deliveries from all suppliers
- Provide excellent customer service; eye contact and clear verbal communication
- Understand and maintain the importance of the visual layout and display of the shop and its products which are established by management
- Make sure the shop is always clear of rubbish and kept tidy to a high standard of cleanliness
- Complete Daily Checklists
Skills Required:
- Confident with people in a customer facing role with clear communication skills
- Physically fit enough to stand for long periods of time and be able to carry or lift a minimum of 10kg at elbow height.
- The ability to follow instructions and procedures correctly
- You must be able to work Saturdays, Sundays and Weekday evenings
