Part-Time Hyperbaric Therapy Assistant / Chamber Operator
Location: London Oxygen Centre, Ealing, London W13
Working days: Thursday to Sunday, including holiday cover
Hours: Variable, according to client bookings
Contract: Temporary zero-hours contract until January 2027, with the possibility of continuing
Pay: £13 per hour during training, increasing to £17 per hour once fully trained and approved to work independently. Pre-agreed holiday-cover shifts are paid at £19 per hour.

London Oxygen Centre is a small, friendly, family-run hyperbaric oxygen therapy clinic in Ealing.

We are looking for a dependable and caring Hyperbaric Therapy Assistant/Chamber Operator to join our growing clinic.
This role would suit someone who is a good listener, sensitive to the needs of others and able to maintain appropriate professional and time-management boundaries. You must be highly reliable, exceptionally hygienic and comfortable making sensible decisions in the best interests of client safety.
Working Arrangements
Applicants must be available for shifts between Thursday and Sunday. Shifts will be scheduled within the clinic’s operating hours according to client bookings, so the number and length of shifts may vary from week to week.
This role would particularly suit someone who lives locally, has flexible commitments and is comfortable with booking-dependent hours.
The successful applicant must be available to:
- Begin training immediately.
- Commit to the role until at least January 2027.
- Work variable shifts between Thursday and Sunday.
- Provide pre-agreed holiday cover, particularly during September.
- Work alone after successfully completing training.
There may be opportunities for additional hours and greater responsibility as the clinic grows, including the potential to progress into a clinic-management role.
The Role
You will prepare and supervise clients throughout their hyperbaric oxygen therapy appointments, helping ensure that treatments are delivered safely, comfortably and in accordance with clinic protocols.
You will be responsible for preparing the chamber and treatment area, monitoring clients and equipment, maintaining accurate records and keeping the entire clinic exceptionally clean, hygienic and presentable.
Full training in chamber operation, client monitoring, safety procedures and clinic protocols will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare clients, the hyperbaric chamber and treatment area before each appointment.
- Explain the treatment process clearly and provide reassurance throughout each client’s visit.
- Operate the hyperbaric chamber and associated equipment in accordance with training and clinic protocols.
- Continuously supervise and monitor clients during treatment.
- Closely observe clients for anxiety, discomfort, pressure-related difficulties or other warning signs.
- Pause or stop treatment when required and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Follow clinic procedures without attempting to diagnose conditions or provide clinical advice outside the scope of the role.
- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential treatment notes and records.
- Follow infection-control, oxygen-safety, emergency and safeguarding procedures.
- Maintain appropriate professional and time-management boundaries.
- Communicate relevant information promptly to other team members.
- Clean and prepare the chamber and treatment area between appointments.
- Keep all clinic areas pristine, including the treatment room, kitchen, restroom and outside entrance area.
- Open and securely close the clinic when required.
- Complete reasonable administrative and operational duties associated with the role.
Essential Requirements
- At least one year of experience within healthcare, therapy, patient care or a client-facing wellbeing environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to remain focused while supervising treatments.
- A compassionate, calm and professional approach to client care.
- Confidence working independently and following established procedures.
- Ability to recognise concerns, make sensible safety decisions and escalate appropriately.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Accurate record-keeping skills.
- Ability to handle confidential health information sensitively and professionally.
- Exceptional standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Reliability and flexibility for booking-dependent shifts.
- Availability between Thursday and Sunday and for agreed holiday cover.
- Ability to commute reliably to Ealing W13.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- DBS clearance.
- Willingness to complete all required chamber and clinic training.
- Commitment to remain in the role until at least January 2027.
Desirable Requirements
- Current CPR, Basic Life Support or equivalent certification.
- Experience within a private clinic, complementary healthcare or wellbeing setting.
- Previous experience with hyperbaric oxygen therapy or oxygen equipment.
- Knowledge of infection prevention, oxygen safety or clinical risk management.
- Experience working independently with clients.
