Reporting to the Accounting, Tax & Treasury Director, the Financial Controller will lead the Financial Control function for Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Ltd ("MGP") and the consolidated Group.
You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, statutory compliance, governance and internal controls, with all reporting and accounting activities delivered in accordance with UK-adopted International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”).
You will provide leadership across Financial Reporting, Transactional Services, Payroll and Capital Accounting, whilst maintaining overall accountability for the financial control environment, statutory reporting, audit activities and month-end and year-end close processes.
As the functional lead for Financial Control, you will act as custodian of the Group's accounting policies and UK-adopted IFRS reporting framework, ensuring reporting processes, controls and disclosures continue to evolve alongside the business and remain appropriate for a high-performing, growing organisation.
You will drive continuous improvement across Financial Control activities, maximising utilisation of financial systems including SAP S/4HANA and BlackLine, whilst supporting the Finance function's transition to SAP RISE and other strategic transformation initiatives.
Working closely with the Accounting, Tax & Treasury Director, you will provide leadership across financial accounting and reporting activities whilst maintaining sufficient operational involvement to ensure the effective delivery of key financial reporting outputs.
Lead and develop the Financial Control function, creating a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
Provide leadership and direction to Financial Reporting, Transactional Services, Payroll and Capital Accounting teams.
Act as the senior technical accounting authority within the function, maintaining ownership of accounting policies and IFRS reporting frameworks.
Own and continuously enhance the financial control environment, including policies, procedures and internal controls.
Ensure compliance with UK-adopted IFRS, Companies Act requirements and all statutory reporting obligations.
Own the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and control.
Review and approve financial reporting outputs, including balance sheet reconciliations, provisions, accruals and consolidation adjustments.
Oversee the timely production of management, shareholder and statutory reporting.
Lead the annual audit process and act as principal contact for external auditors.
Review and approve statutory financial statements and disclosures for MGP and the consolidated Group.
Lead balance sheet and cashflow planning processes, supporting business planning and forecasting cycles.
Drive continuous improvement across Financial Control, including optimisation of SAP S/4HANA and BlackLine.
Support Finance transformation initiatives, including SAP RISE transition and automation programmes.
Ensure financial risks are identified, managed and mitigated across the organisation.
Support treasury, liquidity planning and broader Finance initiatives as required.
Essential
ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent professionally qualified accountant.
Significant post-qualified experience in financial accounting, financial control or external audit.
Strong technical accounting expertise, including detailed knowledge of UK-adopted IFRS.
Experience preparing, reviewing or signing off statutory financial statements prepared under UK-adopted IFRS.
Experience leading external audits and managing auditor relationships.
Strong understanding of month-end and year-end close processes within a complex organisation.
Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
Experience of consolidated financial reporting and group accounting.
Experience of balance sheet governance, financial controls and risk management.
Experience working with SAP S/4HANA or a comparable ERP platform.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Strong analytical capability with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
Demonstrable ability to drive process improvement and organisational change.

Previous Financial Controller or senior Financial Control leadership experience.
Experience operating within a UK-adopted IFRS reporting environment following a recent accounting framework transition.
Experience of BlackLine or similar financial close and reconciliation software.
Experience supporting SAP RISE or major ERP transformation programmes.
Experience of balance sheet and cashflow planning within annual planning cycles.
Experience within a fast-paced, complex or high-performance environment.
Exposure to treasury, liquidity management or financing arrangements.
Experience supporting Finance Transformation initiatives and automation projects
