Overview of the Role:
The Paralegal is responsible for helping Solicitors within the selected team to prepare core client documentation. The Paralegal will help to investigate and research matters and ensure that all relevant information is considered. They will also identify appropriate laws, legal decisions, legal articles, and other materials that are relevant to assigned matters.
The Wansbroughs Fee Earning teams offer a constant high volume of work to tight timescales. This role reports into a Partner or a senior fee earner.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities:
Assisting solicitors within the team with a variety of administrative, organisational, communication, and research tasks including typing support as required.
Drafting letters, correspondence, and a variety of legal documents, and maintaining them by filing manually or storing them on the case management system for later retrieval.
Conducting factual research and investigations.
Attending client meetings (with senior fee earners) and documenting core client requirements.
To assist in the costing of files.
Complying with the required standards for internal procedures, e.g. financial management of files and billing regimes, as well as the specific requirements of individual clients.
Handling confidential information in line with the firm’s data security protocols.
Person Specification:
Experience and knowledge:
Previous experience of support or paralegal roles or equivalent work experience.
Strong IT literacy. Ideally, previous experience of a case management system.
Excellent attention to detail.
Client-focused, with an ability to build strong relationships with clients.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work to deadlines, autonomously, prioritise own workload effectively under pressure and manage conflicting priorities.
Demonstrable proactive, energetic and tenacious approach to identifying issues and solving problems.
Committed and enthusiastic.
Experience of family law is preferable but not essential.
Professional Qualifications:
The successful candidate may be a member of the National Association of Licensed Paralegals, but this is not essential.
