Job title: Casual Chef
Location: Port Vale Football Club; Vale Park, Hamil Road, ST6 1AW
Contract type: Casual contract (you will be required to work all matchdays)
Report to: Executive Chef
Job Purpose:
Work alongside and support our kitchen team delivering exceptional food in one of our busy kitchens.
PRINCIPLE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Involves working on match days, as well as providing support on prep/event days
- Food preparation, cooking and finishing dishes to the standard required
- Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins
- Complete food safety management system documentation where relevant
- Cleaning, and helping maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment
- Adhering to food safety standards
- Operate and clean specialist kitchen equipment following safe handling procedures
- Receive and check internal and external deliveries of food items, equipment and chemicals and store correctly
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous kitchen or similar event catering experience is essential
- Banqueting experience preferable
- A valid level 2 food hygiene certificate as a minimum
- Flexibility of working hours
- Preferably an NVQ level 1,2,3 professional cookery (or equivalent) or relevant experience in the role
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
- A fast learner and an interest in working in a kitchen
- Willingness to adhere to health & safety rules
- Good organisational skills
- The ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work in a team
- Patience and able to work calm under pressure
