Graduate Software Developer

40 hours per week / Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm
Reporting to our Software Development Manager, you’ll join our experienced IT team and have the opportunity to build your software development career within a large and evolving business. This is a varied role where you’ll work on real-world software solutions, integrations and business systems, while developing your technical skills and gaining valuable hands-on experience.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across the business to understand their requirements, develop effective solutions and support the continued improvement of our systems.
What you’ll be doing:

Developing, testing, documenting and maintaining our core in-house software systems.

Troubleshooting production issues and helping to resolve problems effectively.

Supporting and maintaining integrations across our in-house and enterprise systems.

Reviewing existing software solutions and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Helping to design new integrations and assess their suitability from both a technical and business perspective.

Working alongside experienced developers and IT colleagues, learning from the team while contributing your own ideas.

Producing reports on software performance and preparing supporting documentation and training materials for end users.
About you:
You’ll be enthusiastic about software development, enjoy solving problems and be keen to continue developing your technical skills. You don’t need years of commercial experience, we’re looking for someone with a strong foundation, a willingness to learn and the motivation to build a career in software development.
In addition, you’ll have:

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related subject, or equivalent practical experience.

A good understanding of software development principles and current technologies.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
-
A full driving licence and the flexibility to travel to our sites across the UK when needed.

Experience with Python, Microsoft SQL Server, .NET or Flutter would be a bonus, but is not essential.

Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA and ABAP would also be advantageous, though not required.
