Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Back Up Driver to support our Thames Water engineering teams in the Thames Valley area. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting goods and materials to various sites on our contracts, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining high standards of professionalism and safety for our clients. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong driving background and experience in the utilities industry to contribute to our operational success. A 3.5t flatbed van, fuel card, full PPE, and training will be provided.
Duties
- Collect fittings, pipe (coils & sticks), signs, barriers, and more from Terrafirma and Thames Water yards across the Thames Valley and London areas, and deliver to site teams.
- Assist engineering teams in keeping sites compliant with NRSWA legislation and moving up SLG upon completion of reinstatement, ready for the next phase of works to commence.
- Clear sites when projects are complete, ensuring the site is left swept and tidied, and carry out jetwashing when required to avoid Section 74 overrun charges.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving and towing large trailers with knowledge in safely loading flatbed vehicles to ensure all loads are safe & secure.
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues.
- Experience in the utilities industry with a basic understanding of pipe & fittings.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with the engineering teams, yard operatives, and management team that you'll be supporting.
Qualifications
- Valid UK-issued 'BE' driving licence to drive a 3.5t flatbed van and tow trailers up to 3.5t (essential).
- NRSWA Streetworks SLG Unit 01 - Signing, lighting and guarding (essential).
- EUSR SHEA Water & National Water Hygiene (preferred - training will be provided).
- NPORS/CPCS digger and dumper tickets (preferred).
