Information Governance Officer (Procurement)
Hours: 37 Hours Per Week (Mon – Fri, 08:45 – 17:15)
Contract: Temporary Assignment (1 September 2026 – 1 December 2026)
We're recruiting an Information Governance Officer to support District Council with information management, governance, and records compliance. This is a key role for an experienced professional who can ensure statutory obligations are met while driving improvements in information handling and governance processes.
About the Role:
As an Information Governance Officer, you'll work collaboratively across the Council to deliver objectives in information management, governance, and records management. You'll provide advice, training, and compliance support, ensuring statutory deadlines are met for data protection, Freedom of Information, Subject Access Requests, and Environmental Information regulations.
What you'll be doing:
- Keeping up to date with information governance and records management standards and legislation
- Translating requirements into corporate strategy and policy
- Reducing information risk through training, compliance awareness, and advice
- Developing and maintaining systems for document and records management
- Supporting staff with complex cases and providing guidance on information security
- Contributing to the Council's information architecture and digital transformation projects
- Communicating with regulatory bodies, including ICO investigations and breach reporting
- Providing performance reports to inform compliance across the organisation
- Supporting culture change with a focus on customer-focused service delivery
- Ensuring statutory reporting is completed to agreed time and quality standards
What We're Looking For:
We're seeking candidates with:
- Relevant experience in information management disciplines
- Knowledge of FOI, Data Protection, and Environmental Information Regulations
- Experience developing and implementing information governance processes
- Strong communication skills, including report writing and presentations
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners
- Strong self-motivation and ability to manage workload independently
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and governance systems
Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent in information governance or legal-related discipline
- Understanding of local government operating environment
- Experience in digital transformation projects and collaborative working
