About the Role
DIY Kitchens is looking for an experienced, hands-on Finance Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day finance function.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will manage and support the finance team, oversee core accounting operations, payroll and time & attendance, and drive process improvements across the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate day-to-day finance operations and finance staff.
- Oversee purchase ledger, sales ledger, credit control.
- Support month-end, year-end, reconciliations and financial controls.
- Oversee and provide payroll processing/cover when required.
- Administer and maintain the time and attendance system.
- Ensure accurate payroll, attendance and financial information.
- Manage finance queries and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Work closely with the Financial Controller and wider business.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy and control.
- Improve finance systems, reporting, automation and procedures.
- Document and standardise finance processes.
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- An experienced finance professional with strong all-round accounting knowledge.
- Proven in delivering process improvements.
- An experienced people manager or supervisor.
- Hands-on, organised and highly accurate.
- Confident managing competing priorities and deadlines.
- Commercially aware and willing to challenge inefficient processes.
- A strong communicator and practical problem-solver.
- Discreet and trustworthy when handling financial and payroll information.
Essential Experience
- Strong experience within a finance/accounting environment.
- Demonstrable process improvement experience.
- Experience managing or supervising finance staff.
- Purchase and sales ledger experience.
- Payroll processing or payroll cover experience.
- Experience administering a time and attendance system or similar.
- Strong knowledge of reconciliations, accounting controls and month-end.
- Good Excel skills.
Desirable
- Sage 200 accounting experience.
- Sage 50 Payroll experience.
- Experience in manufacturing, retail, e-commerce or another fast-paced commercial environment.
- Experience improving finance systems, processes or automation.
- Management accounts and financial reporting experience.
What We’re Looking For
This is a hands-on operational leadership role for someone who will take ownership, lead the team and improve how finance operates — not simply maintain existing processes.
Strong accounting knowledge is essential, but so is the ability to manage people, improve processes, work confidently with systems and payroll, and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function.
Pay: £50,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
