About the Role
As an Advanced Residential Support Worker, you’ll be part of a dedicated team in our 6-bed children’s residential home in Walsall, WS9, supporting young people aged up to 18 with:
- Learning disabilities
- Autism & ADHD
- Sensory and physical needs
- Emotional and behavioural challenges
Many of our young people have experienced trauma or neglect, so your role as Residential Support Worker is vital in helping them feel safe, valued and supported.
Your day could include:
- Supporting daily routines and independence skills
- Taking young people to school, appointments and community activities
- Creating fun, engaging experiences
- Building trusted, positive relationships
- Supporting behaviour positively and safely
Flexible Working Patterns
This role operates on a flexible rolling rota consisting of a mixture of long day, late shifts and Sleep Ins. Long day shifts are typically 7:30am to 9:30pm, while late shifts are 1:30pm to 9:30pm.
You'll enjoy the benefits of longer shifts, allowing for fewer working days each week while providing consistency and continuity of support to the people we care for. Weekend working is required on a rotational basis.
When completing a sleep in support you will be required to support the next morning until 08.30am

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for people who genuinely care and want to make a difference.
Requirements:
- 2 - 5 years exp in Children’s Residential Setting
- Level 3 in Children & Young People (or equivalent)
- Experience with learning disabilities / complex needs / Trauma
- Strong safeguarding knowledge / Risk
- Practice Leadership on Shift - on the spot coaching, mentoring and support
- Ability to Shift Lead - Role model positive practice
- Compliance and Quality knowledge and oversight
You’ll also be:
- Compassionate, patient and resilient
- A strong communicator with good written skills
- Confident in managing challenging situations
- A team player who can also use their own initiative
- Someone who brings energy, ideas and positivity
- Driving licence preferred (but not essential)
