Vecom Sillavan Metal Treatment Ltd is looking for an experienced and skilled Metal Polisher to join our production team.
We specialise in the treatment and finishing of stainless steel and are looking for someone with a strong eye for detail and pride in producing consistently high-quality finishes.
The Role-As a Metal Polisher, you will be responsible for polishing stainless-steel plate and sheet to specified finishes, dimensions and demanding tolerances. The role will involve operating and adapting to flat-bed polishing machines, as well as carrying out finishing work by hand where required.
You will be expected to work accurately from job specifications and drawings, ensuring that finished material meets our customers' exacting quality requirements.
Machines Operated: Grinding Master 4000 & New Johansen.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and learn to effectively use flat-bed polishing machinery.
- Polish stainless-steel plate and sheet to specified surface finishes.
- Achieve demanding dimensional and finishing tolerances.
- Set up and adjust machinery to suit different materials, sizes and finish requirements.
- Inspect finished work to ensure it meets required quality standards.
- Identify and rectify surface imperfections and defects.
- Handle stainless steel safely and carefully to prevent damage.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.
- Work efficiently to meet production schedules and customer deadlines.
- Follow company health, safety and quality procedures.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in metal polishing, stainless steel finishing or a similar engineering/metalworking environment.
- Experience using polishing machinery; experience with flat-bed polishing machines would be highly advantageous.
- A good understanding of stainless-steel finishes and surface quality.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to demanding tolerances.
- The ability to read and understand job specifications and drawings.
- Crane and FLT experience an advantage.
- A willingness to learn new machinery and adapt to different polishing processes.
- A reliable, hardworking and positive attitude.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Experience is preferred, but we are also interested in candidates with strong metalworking or engineering backgrounds who have the right attitude and aptitude to learn our specialist processes.
