Role Purpose
Bolton Wanderers Football Club is looking for a reliable, hands-on General Labourer to help keep the stadium bowl safe, well-maintained and presented to the highest standard. Working as part of the Grounds and Facilities team, you will carry out a varied programme of practical maintenance tasks - from repairing seating and painting, to weeding, cleaning and general upkeep - ensuring the bowl looks its best for supporters, players and visitors on matchdays, event days and throughout the week.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspecting, repairing and replacing stadium seats, fixings and fittings throughout the bowl, and reporting any damage that requires specialist attention.
- Carrying out painting and decorating tasks across the bowl, including handrails, barriers, walls, steps, stairwells and other fixed structures, keeping surfaces clean, protected and presentable.
- Weeding, clearing and treating gangways, terracing, walkways, boundary areas and hard-standing to keep them tidy, safe and free from vegetation.
- Undertaking general maintenance and minor repairs across the stadium bowl, including fabric, fixtures and fittings, and assisting other trades and departments as needed.
- Maintaining the overall appearance and presentation of the bowl, including assisting our cleaning team with litter picking, clearing debris, jet washing and keeping public and player facing areas clean and welcoming.
- Setting up, moving and storing equipment, materials and furniture in preparation for matchdays, events and daily operations.
- Assisting with matchday and event preparation and post-event clean down and turnaround as required.
- Using tools, equipment and materials safely and correctly, and keeping stores, work areas and equipment clean, tidy and secure.
- Working in line with all health, safety and safeguarding policies, and reporting hazards, defects and near-misses promptly.
- Carrying out any other reasonable duties requested by the Facilities Manager in support of the wider stadium and hotel operation.
Person Specification
Essential
- A practical, hands-on approach with experience of general labouring, maintenance, grounds or a similar manual role.
- Competent using basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Able to carry out painting, minor repairs and general upkeep to a good standard.
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual work, including lifting, bending, and being on your feet for extended periods.
- Reliable, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends, evenings, and matchdays.
- A positive attitude and pride in presentation, quality and attention to detail.
Desirable
- Relevant trade or maintenance experience within a stadium, leisure, hospitality or large public venue.
- Health & safety awareness or certification (e.g. manual handling, working at heights, IPAF/PASMA).
- Full UK driving licence.
Pay: £15,923.09 per year
