We are currently looking for a Lead Engineer, at the Bristol Schools project, who will provide day-to-day engineering support across Bristol Metropolitan Academy, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient and reliable facilities management engineering services. This includes responding promptly to reactive maintenance issues, carrying out planned preventative maintenance, and supporting the effective operation and management of building systems.
Working closely with the Engineering Supervisor, the Lead Engineer will provide technical expertise, leadership and guidance to the engineering team, helping to maintain high standards of service delivery across the estate. The role will also deputise for the Engineering Supervisor when required, ensuring continuity of engineering services and smooth day-to-day operations across the four academies in Bristol.
As the Lead Engineer, you will:
- Deliver reactive and planned maintenance activities in line with contractual Service Level Agreements, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
- Carry out inspections and checks of electrical and mechanical services, plant and systems to support the safe and reliable operation of the estate.
- Develop a detailed understanding of building systems and identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability and efficiency.
- Monitor agreed KPIs and SLAs, ensuring effective prioritisation and use of time to consistently meet performance targets.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CAFM records and site documentation at all times, ensuring all works are reported to the Helpdesk in accordance with required processes.
- In the absence of the Engineering Supervisor, coordinate and take responsibility for all planned and reactive maintenance delivered by the engineering team across equipment, plant, services and systems.
We are looking for:
- Experience in a similar role is necessary.
- HNC or HND qualification, or equivalent, in an engineering discipline is essential.
- Completion of a recognised time-served apprenticeship is essential.
- IOSH Health and Safety qualification is essential.
- Knowledge of, or previous experience using, mobile technology to manage tasks is essential.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritise a varied and demanding workload is essential.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees, customers and clients at all levels, are essential.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation is essential, together with a working knowledge of COSHH, confined space requirements and L8.
