Job Summary
The Monitoring Officer plays an important role in supporting the Head of Programmes and Project Coordinators by ensuring monitoring information is accurate, complete and reported on time. Working across Verbal's funded programmes, the postholder will coordinate the collection, validation and analysis of programme data, helping to demonstrate programme outputs, outcomes and impact while ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
The postholder will maintain monitoring systems, produce regular reports and dashboards, resolve data queries and support colleagues to use monitoring information effectively. Working collaboratively with the Head of Programmes, Project Coordinators and delivery staff, they will help ensure high standards of data quality, support reporting deadlines and contribute to the continuous improvement of monitoring processes across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Collect, manage and validate impact and performance data across funded programmes, ensuring information is complete, accurate and consistent.
- Develop and maintain monitoring systems that support effective collection, analysis and reporting of programme information.
- Produce regular dashboards, monitoring reports and management information for funders, the Senior Management Team and the Board, including clear commentary where appropriate.
- Work with the Head of Programmes, Project Coordinators and colleagues to resolve data queries and improve reporting processes.
- Monitor programme performance against outputs, outcomes, KPIs and funding targets.
- Ensure monitoring information supports funding claims and maintains a clear audit trail.
- Support organisational impact reporting, research and programme evaluation.
- Identify opportunities to improve monitoring systems and reporting processes.
Essential Criteria
- Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in project monitoring, administration, business support or performance reporting.
- Minimum two years' experience in monitoring, reporting, project support or data management.
- Experience collecting, analysing and interpreting monitoring or performance data.
- Experience producing monitoring reports, dashboards or management information.
- Experience checking data quality, resolving data queries and maintaining accurate records and audit trails.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Knowledge of GDPR and data management principles.
