About Big Picture
Established in 2007, Big Picture is an independent creative print and photography business based in Silverburn Shopping Centre.
We create personalised products, photo gifts and professional photography services for our customers, with much of our work designed and produced directly at our kiosk.
This isn't a typical retail job. You'll use Photoshop every day, work directly with customers and learn how to produce a wide range of personalised products using professional print and production equipment.
We're a small team, so we're looking for someone who can become an important and trusted part of the business.
The Role
A large part of the job involves working directly with customers to turn their photographs, designs and ideas into finished products.
You'll be using Adobe Photoshop regularly, so good practical Photoshop skills are essential. We'll provide full training on our production processes and equipment — we don't expect you to already know how to make our products.
Your day-to-day work will include:
- Helping customers create personalised products from their photographs and designs
- Editing, resizing, retouching and preparing images in Photoshop
- Producing personalised canvases, mugs, photo gifts and other products
- Taking and preparing passport and ID photographs
- Operating professional printers and production equipment
- Managing customer orders, collections and payments
- Providing friendly, knowledgeable customer service
- Checking finished work carefully for quality and accuracy
- Helping with the everyday running of the kiosk
- Working independently and making sensible decisions when running the kiosk yourself
The work is varied. One customer might need a straightforward passport photograph, while the next may have an old photograph that needs repaired, a complicated Photoshop request or a personalised product they need help creating.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Good practical knowledge of Adobe Photoshop

- Reliable, organised and able to manage several things at once
- Comfortable working independently once fully trained
- Positive attitude and willingness to get involved in different aspects of the business
- Flexibility to work a mixture of weekdays and weekends
Formal design qualifications aren't essential. We're much more interested in what you can actually do.
Particularly useful experience includes:
- Photography
- Graphic design
- Photo retouching or restoration
- Other Adobe or graphics software
- Retail or hospitality/customer-facing work
- Print or production
- Social media/content creation
- E-commerce or SEO
- Arts, crafts or other practical creative work
Photography experience is particularly welcome. We currently provide professional passport photography and are looking at expanding our photography services in the future, which may create additional opportunities as the business develops.
Working Pattern
Our longer shifts mean your working hours are normally spread across fewer days than a traditional five-day working week.
A typical two-week rota is:
Week 1 – 3 working days / 4 days off
Week 2 – 4 working days / 3 days off
Shifts are generally between 9 and 11 hours, depending on the day, and include a mixture of weekdays and weekends.
Rotas are confirmed monthly in advance, giving you plenty of notice to plan your time outside work.
Some flexibility is required to help cover staff holidays and particularly busy periods.

Application Process
Because Photoshop is an important part of the job, shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete a short Photoshop skills assessment before interview.
This allows us to assess practical ability rather than relying solely on qualifications or what's written on a CV.
Successful candidates will then be invited to an interview at our Silverburn kiosk, which will include a short practical production exercise.
An immediate or early start would be preferred.
Pay: £13.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 41.0 per week
