Job Summary
We at Thornes Fabrication are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic sheet metal worker / fabricator to join our expanding team. The job role involves every aspect of sheet metal and fabrication so we are looking for someone with the knowledge and skill that can work in a fast paced, ever changing environment. for this role a successful candidate will be required to manufacture from start to finish. This includes marking out of sheet metal or section components, cutting and forming of materials using many different machines and techniques (e.g. guillotine, bandsaw, press break or section rolls), welding together of components (using MIG and TIG), finishing of products (using grinder or polisher) and even installing the products you have made. Ensuring total job satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate sheet metal parts according to technical drawings and specifications using hand tools and tooling.
- Perform grinding, welding, and assembly tasks to create finished components.
- Operate and maintain various fabrication equipment safely and efficiently.
- Measure and mark materials accurately using basic maths skills to ensure precise cuts and fittings.
- Conduct quality checks on finished products, ensuring adherence to safety standards and specifications.
- Assist in the installation of fabricated components on-site or in workshop settings.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times.
Requirements
- Punctual and enthusiastic
- Ability to mark out components from drawings using sheet metal pattern development methods.
- Confident in using sheet metal and fabrication machinery accurately and safetly
- Confident in MIG and TIG welding operations
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations.
- Ability to work accurately under supervision or independently as required.
- familiarity of sheet metal properties and handling techniques.
- Competence in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised fabrication equipment.
- Good organisational skills with a keen attention to detail
Qualifications
- NVQ level 2 in Fabrication and Welding or higher or City and Guilds equivalent
- At least 2 years as a Qualified Welder/Fabricator
- Full UK Driving Licence
- IPAF 3a/3b (not necessary But would prefere)
Pay: £14.00-£20.00 per hour
