Duties
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and drawings to develop comprehensive cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to gather necessary data and clarify project requirements.
- Prepare detailed bid proposals that include material costs, labor estimates, equipment needs, and other relevant expenses.
- Conduct market research to stay informed about current prices for materials, labor rates, and subcontractor services.
- Implement cost control measures throughout the estimating process to ensure budgets are maintained effectively.
- Review and update estimates regularly based on project changes or new information.
- Assist in the negotiation of contracts by providing transparent cost analysis and supporting documentation.
Experience
- Proven experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or engineering industry.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated ability to develop accurate cost estimates with attention to detail and precision.
- Excellent skills in cost control techniques and budget management.
- Proficiency with estimating software tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members, clients, and suppliers.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets quickly and make informed decisions under tight deadlines.
