Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Functional Skills English & Maths Tutor to deliver high-quality Functional Skills qualifications to learners of varying abilities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons in Functional Skills English and/or Maths, supporting learners to achieve their qualifications, and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Functional Skills English and/or Maths courses in line with awarding body specifications
- Plan and deliver engaging, learner-centred lessons
- Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback
- Prepare learners for Functional Skills examinations and assessments
- Maintain accurate learner records, attendance, and assessment documentation
- Adapt teaching methods to meet individual learner needs
- Ensure all training is delivered in a safe, inclusive, and professional environment
- Promote learner confidence, achievement, and progression
Essential Requirements
- Recognised teaching qualification (AET, PTLLS or equivalent)
- Level 2 (minimum) or higher qualification in English and/or Mathematics
- Experience delivering Functional Skills English and/or Maths
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to motivate and engage learners from a range of backgrounds
- Professional, reliable, and learner-focused approach
Desirable
- Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DET) or equivalent
- Experience delivering accredited qualifications
- Experience working with awarding organisations
- Experience supporting learners with additional learning needs
- GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
