Job Title: Grade 1 Family Assessment Practitioner Worker
(First Level – Some relevant experience, working towards Level 3 qualifications/ Newly qualified)
Location: The Groves Family Assessment Centre (Centres in Sutton and Croydon)
Hours: 40 hours/week shift across 5 days on a 7-day Rota (including 2 weekends per month)
Salary Range: £30,784 to £32,510
1. Assessment Support:
- Support each family’s weekly assessment plans by maintaining accurate and detailed recordings on daily sheets.
- Observe and document child-parent interactions to evaluate parental ability and family dynamics.
2. Parenting Skills Development:
- Teach and model effective parenting skills and practices to families.
- Provide guidance to help parents understand and meet their children’s emotional and physical needs.
3. Family Interaction Monitoring:
- Monitor and evaluate the effects of interventions on children’s emotional and physical well-being.
- Assess the impact of parenting practices on child development and safety.
4. Family Sessions:
- Facilitate and complete structured sessions with families in line with assessment plans and the Centre’s framework.
5. Centre Operations Support:
- Assist and support Centre Managers in the day-to-day running of the Centre and staff coordination.
- Ensure a good standard of childcare and general house management is upheld throughout the Centre.
6. Working Within Frameworks:
- Work within the Regulations and standards for Residential Family Centres
- Work within established frameworks for the assessment of children in need and their families.
- Promote safeguarding and adhere to policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining relevant observations of families in placement.
- Keeping clear, detailed, and accurate electronic recordings.
- Identifying and responding to any safeguarding concerns, recording and passing them on to the relevant manager.
- Being a positive role model.
- Advising and supporting parents as necessary to maintain safety.
Qualifications and Skills
1. Essential:
- Experience in family support, social care, or a related field.
- Strong observational and documentation skills.
- Ability to teach and model parenting practices.
- Knowledge of safeguarding principles and child development.
2. Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications in social care, childcare, or psychology.
- Experience working in a residential or family assessment setting.
