Role Description:
As a Lead Detail Planner, you will lead operational planning activities to optimise facilities, resources and materials, ensuring delivery against man-hour, cost and programme targets. You will oversee work package management, scheduling, work-in-progress control and Quarterly Lookahead planning, while driving efficient resource utilisation and mitigating delays. The role includes leading and developing Detail Planners, balancing team workloads, managing performance and absence processes, promoting best practice and ensuring a consistent planning approach across contracts and sites. You will also champion SHE compliance, quality standards and continuous improvement, acting on behalf of the line manager as required
Core Duties:
Responsible for the efficient Operations Planning which optimises facilities, resources and materials to achieve man hour and cost targets
Manage and maintain work packages for Manufacture / Installation
Manage planning aspects of the Quarterly Lookahead (QLA) process and, ensuring that all firm demand is met
Monitor and control of all work in progress using standard reports
Maximise use of Operation facilities / resources through effective scheduling
Maintain an agile approach to problems / issues so that expensive cost and delays are minimised
Verify that team outputs meet functional/business quality standards
Provision of education/training of planning staff in the methods of Business System and Build Strategy
Manage the Detail Planners absence and Performance Review (PDR) Processes
Balance the workload of all planners in the team
Represent line manager on certain occasions i.e. annual leave, delegated authority at meetings
Ensure common approach to Detail Planning (contracts / sites) by identifying best practice
Encourage the use of shared resource within Detail Planning to give Planners experience and relieve pressure points
Ensure compliance with the SHE Management System, mitigating risks and improving overall SHE performance
Essential Skills:
You’ll hold experience using Windchill (PDM), AVEVA ERM (MPR) and CMPIC (Cable Management), or equivalent systems
You’ll have proven manufacturing production experience
You’ll be able to rationalise large volumes of data and clearly articulate issues and their consequences
You’ll have experience working within engineering and/or manufacturing industries
